The Dartmouth General Hospital Foundation has been around for as long as the hospital has: 40 years.

In that time, it has raised well over $40 million to enhance the care of patients.

The impact is felt in every corner of the hospital, from CT scanners to portable ultrasounds to surgical-assist arms to comfort carts, blanket warmers and much more. It has funded renovations, equipment and many innovation projects.

The foundation is holding its 31st Annual Lobster Dinner and Auction on June 4 at the Dartmouth Sportsplex.

This is a "Down East" lobster feed that you can wear jeans to.

The CBC Nova Scotia Do Crew will be helping with registration for the live auction, and be runners for it as well. (They'll also get a feed of lobster, which is quite a bonus!)

The Do Crew is a monthly initiative spearheaded by Louise Renault of Daybreak Maritimes and Halifax's Information Morning celebrating the spirit of volunteerism and community in the Halifax region.

The Do Crew — consisting of CBC listeners, viewers and readers — lends a hand at an event or fundraiser for a local organization.
