A fire broke out on the derelict Farley Mowat on Monday as crews prepared to remove it from the Shelburne Marine Terminal in Nova Scotia.
Dylan Heide, the chief administrative officer for Shelburne, said the wharf was never in danger and no one was hurt. The fire was out by 11:45 a.m.
Heide said the fire may have been caused by workers removing parts of the vessel ahead of its full removal.
The ship once served as an anti-sealing vessel for the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, but was later sold to a scrap dealer. It docked in Shelburne in 2014.
The owner of the Farley Mowat, Tracy Dodds, faces a big bill to get the ship removed from the terminal.
