Man dead after accident at transportation business off Prospect Road
57-year-old from Hatchet Lake, N.S., declared dead at the scene
A 57-year-old man was killed Tuesday at an industrial site in the community of Goodwood on the outskirts of metro Halifax, according to the RCMP.
The man was working when he was crushed between a truck and a trailer. He was declared dead at the scene.
The incident happened on a property owned by M & J Total Transportation and Rigging, which is located off Prospect Road. The company said the man worked for another trucking business and was on site to pick up a load of goods.
The man was from the nearby community of Hatchet Lake.
His death is not suspicious and is considered an occupational health and safety accident, which is being investigated by the province's Department of Labour, said police.
The Department of Labour said the truck involved in the accident has been taken out of service to be examined. A spokesperson would not comment further because the investigation is ongoing.
An RCMP traffic analyst was at the scene to aid in the investigation and the medical examiner will determine the manner of death.
