New child-care spaces planned for Colchester, Inverness counties

More child-care spaces are coming to Colchester and Inverness counties, the province says in a media release.

More child-care spaces are coming to Colchester and Inverness counties, the province says in a media release.

The Lower Onslow Preschool Association in Masstown, Colchester County, is creating 52 spaces for infants, toddlers and preschoolers.

The East Coast Early Learning Association in Margaree, Inverness County, is adding 14 toddler and preschool spaces.  

The Lower Onslow Preschool Association received $771,000 and expects to open the new spaces next spring. The East Coast Early Learning Association received $393,000, with spaces expected to open this fall.  

According to the release, Nova Scotia has secured a five-year extension to its child-care agreements with the federal government, worth more than $1 billion. 

The funding will continue until March 31, 2031.
