Fourth man charged in fatal Whitney Pier shooting

Cape Breton Regional Police have charged a fourth person in connection to a fatal shooting in Whitney Pier in February. Christopher Anderson Neville, 49, has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of 44-year-old Jeffrey Pearson.

Cape Breton Regional Police have charged a fourth person in connection to a fatal shooting in Whitney Pier, N.S., in February.

Christopher Anderson Neville, 49, has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of 44-year-old Jeffrey Pearson.

Neville is expected to appear in provincial court in Halifax on Friday. Police arrested Neville in Halifax on Thursday.

In a news release, police spokesperson Desiree Magnus said no additional details will be released.

In February, police were called to a home in the Shore Road area of Whitney Pier after reports of gunshots. Police say a male fled the scene along with a white truck.

Officers tried to stop the vehicle but were unsuccessful. Three people inside the vehicle fled into a wooded area.

A police emergency response team, two canine units, a drone unit and other police officers searched for the suspects, who were later arrested at an apartment complex.

Those suspects, three men from Alberta, have been charged with first-degree murder.
