An Annapolis County woman last seen on Saturday has been found dead.

According to the RCMP, the woman was found Monday at 7:25 a.m. by ground search and rescue volunteers in a wooded area near the location where she was last seen.

Nova Scotia RCMP say the woman went missing from a "loved ones" home near the 9500 block of Highway 10 in Nictaux at around 1:20 p.m Saturday.

Search and rescue operations began after she was reported missing at 8 p.m. Saturday,  RCMP Cpl. Guillaume Tremblay said on Sunday.

On Sunday, approximately 50 people were part of the search, including volunteers from ground search and rescue teams in Lunenburg, Yarmouth, Clare, Annapolis Valley, Annapolis County, West Hants and North Queens.

An investigation is underway, police say.

Tremblay says anyone with information that hasn't been provided to the RCMP should contact Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers or their nearest detachment.
