Nova Scotia RCMP say they've identified 17 more victims in a home security system scam, bringing the total number to 32.

In March, police charged a 54-year-old man from Truro, N.S., with fraud over $5,000. They alleged the man engaged in "high-pressure sales tactics" to convince victims to buy home security systems only to never follow through on their deal.

He was released on the condition that he no longer work in the sale of home security systems, but was arrested again on June 4 and charged with three counts of failure to comply with an undertaking. He was subsequently released again under stricter conditions.

In a news release, Cpl. Terry Brown commended the victims of the scam for coming forward with their stories, acknowledging how difficult it may have been to do so, and encouraged more to do the same.

"I know that victims of frauds can feel awkward or embarrassed and are hesitant to report their experience as a result," said Brown. "It's important for victims to know we will follow up on their report."
