CBC News projects Bay of Quinte's MP will be Liberal Chris Malette, taking a seat from the Conservatives.

Incumbent Conservative MP Ryan Williams won it from the Liberals in 2021 by about 3,000 votes. The Liberals and current Belleville Mayor Neil Ellis had won the previous two elections.

Malette is a Belleville city councillor and is on the Quinte Conservation board. He's a former Belleville Intelligencer reporter and editor.

The regular independent boundary review that followed the 2021 census took part of the city of Belleville and gave it to the riding of Hastings-Lennox and Addington-Tyendinaga.

Southern Belleville remains a hub for Bay of Quinte, which also includes CFB Trenton and Prince Edward County.

Four candidates ran this time. Williams came in second.
