Ontario Votes 2025: Kingston and the Islands

This riding contains the City of Kingston south of Highway 401, and Howe and Wolfe islands.

Liberal Ted Hsu earned about 3,200 more votes than the second-place NDP to swing the seat in the last election. The Liberals had previously held the riding since 1995.

Six candidates are running for the seat. 

With advance voting done and mail voting applications closed, voting is still possible at local election offices until Wednesday at 6 p.m. 

Voting day is Thursday, with polls open from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Elections Ontario has more information on the range of voting options.

Ian Chapelle, PC

The party hasn't shared any information about the candidate.

Ted Hsu, Liberal

Hsu has a PhD in physics from Princeton, and worked in finance and sustainable energy before serving as MP for the area from 2011 to 2015.

Zachary Typhair, Green

The 2022 Green candidate is back for another race. He works as an insurance agent.

Elliot Goodell Ugalde, NDP

Ugalde is working toward a PhD in political science at Queen's, where he's an executive with the instructors' union.

Allan Wilson, Ontario Party

Wilson works in health care.
