Ottawa Locks station reopens after repairs dock boaters in river
The Ottawa Locks station on the Rideau Canal has reopened after a technical issue had to be fixed overnight.
The station reopened at 9 a.m. ET after the wooden heel post, which acts as a hinge for the lock, cracked.
The Ottawa Locks are now fully operational and Parks Canada lock staff are diligently working to clear up boat traffic backlogs.

On Thursday morning, 20 boats on the Rideau Canal and seven boats on the Ottawa River were docked waiting for the locks to reopen.
In June, the federal government announced nearly $40 million for several Rideau Canal infrastructure projects, including the rehabilitation of bridges, dams and locks.
