Environment Canada has ended a severe thunderstorm warning it had issued for parts of eastern Ontario and western Quebec on Wednesday.

Earlier in the day, the agency warned of potential strong winds, heavy rain and toonie-size hail. The storm could bring power outages and cause damage to roofs, fences and trees. Hail could also cause damage or injury.

Emergency Management Ontario recommends taking cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.

Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are expected to produce damaging hail, wind or rain.
