Woman dead, man charged in south Ottawa femicide

Police say they responded to a call late Monday morning to find a woman dead in her apartment.

The accused has been arrested and charged with second degree murder

Ottawa police are investigating the death of a woman in her home at an apartment building on Carousel Crescent. A man has been charged and police are investigating the case as a femicide. CBC's Natalia Goodwin reports.

Ottawa police are investigating after a woman was found dead in her home Monday morning.

Police were called to the apartment building on Carousel Crescent at about 11:30 a.m., where they found 54-year-old Tracy Duncan dead.

Stephen Doane, 57, of Ottawa has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder. He is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.

The death marks Ottawa's 13th homicide of 2025.

Residents of a highrise apartment in south Ottawa say they are in shock after one of their neighbours was found dead Monday morning. Police are investigating it as a femicide.

Ottawa police say they are investigating the case as a femicide, which they have defined as the killing of women, girls, or gender non-conforming individuals because of their gender.

Anyone with information or footage of the incident has been asked to call the homicide unit at 613-236-1222 extension 5493 or anonymously contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or at crimestoppers.ca.

The scene is south of the intersection of Bank Street and Hunt Club Road, about nine kilometres south of Parliament Hill.
