City of Regina begins spraying elm trees next week

The City of Regina is about to begin its annual spraying program to prevent Dutch elm disease.

Dursban will be applied starting Tuesday

The City of Regina is about to begin its annual spraying program to prevent Dutch elm disease.

Last year, some residents complained about the use of Dursban, saying the insecticide is not safe to be used near their homes.

At that time, the City said it would look for alternatives.

However, a year later, it still plans to spray with the same product to control elm bark beetles.

Residents will be notified ahead of time if their street is going to be sprayed.

The spraying begins on Tuesday, Sept. 23 and is expected to be over by the middle of October depending on the weather.
