Highway near Craven blocked by 2nd train derailment in 2 days

Less than 24 hours after a train derailed near Lumsden, Sask., it happened again.

Less than 24 hours after a train derailed near Lumsden, Sask., it happened again.

At about 1:30 p.m. CST on Monday, RCMP reported they were attending to a train derailment near Craven, Sask., about 30 km north of Regina.

In an email, a spokesperson for Canadian Pacific Kansas City said four loaded grain cars had derailed, remaining upright.

Highway 20 was blocked in both directions for some time as a result. By 2 p.m., the roadway had been reopened.

RCMP say in a press release that there were no injuries reported and no dangerous goods were spilled.

2nd derailment in 2 days

At about 3:20 p.m. CST on Sunday, RCMP responded to a train derailment in the same spot.

It also blocked traffic on Highway 20.

The cause of the derailments has not yet been released.
