On the Ledge: Swift Current's new MLA has Broncos fever
Former assistant to Premier Wall on his old job, hockey, broadcasting and dog shows
Everett Hindley is one of the newest MLAs, but he's no stranger to the legislature.
He spent almost 20 years working for former premier Brad Wall, eventually becoming his executive assistant in 2006.
Hindley, who was recently elected as the Saskatchewan Party MLA for Swift Current, is this week's guest for On the Ledge.
He talked about Memorial Cup fever sweeping southwest Saskatchewan with the Swift Current Broncos championship run.
"It's huge, I believe we're the smallest market franchise in the Canadian Hockey League. It's big for the community it's big for the whole area," Hindley said.
He also discussed his experience working as the assistant to the former premier Brad Wall, which included driving him back and forth between Swift Current and Regina. He says the premier controlled the radio.
"A lot of Willie's Roadhouse and Outlaw Country. I think those were pretty much the only two channels that were touched. Some of the political stations but it was mainly those two," he said.
Hindley also talks about his former boss' new beard and what happens at Canadian dog shows.
