6 teens charged after string of assaults linked to 'Catch a Predator' trend, police say
Police say teens used dating app to lure victims to meet, then assault and rob them

Six teens in Regina are accused of taking part in a string of "Catch a Predator" assaults.
All of the alleged assaults followed a similar pattern, according to a Wednesday news release from the police service. Regina police say the accused used a dating app and posed as a 15-year-old boy to attract their victims.
They would then arrange a meeting place and once the victim showed up they were assaulted and/or robbed, the release said.
Police say all of the incidents, which occurred from April 2024 to January of this year, were filmed by the accused and intended to be shared on social media as part of a trend known as "Catch a Predator."
The six youth, whose ages range from 13 to 17 and who cannot be named, are facing various charges of assault and robbery in relation to four separate incidents.
All have made their first court appearance in Regina Provincial Youth Court. The investigation continues and police believe there could be more suspects.
Police are reminding the public that if crimes are committed during acts of vigilantism, charges will be laid.
