A man has died after a collision on Highway 16 in North Battleford, Sask., on Tuesday.

At around 4:40 p.m. CST, a semi-trailer travelling west lost control near the Western Development Museum on the southeastern end of the community.

The semi passed through the light-controlled intersection at Highway 40 before swerving left and passing through a guardrail. The truck crossed through the ditch separating the lanes of Highway 16 and entered into the eastbound lane.

RCMP said the semi hit an SUV and both vehicles ended up on the edge of the CN Rail tracks after crossing the eastbound lanes.

The man driving the SUV died at the scene.

RCMP said they arrested the driver of the semi. They said the investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.

The highway was closed for a period of time while a collision reconstructionist attended the scene.

On Monday, a woman and two children died on Highway 16 just west of Langham, Sask. when a semi and a truck collided.
