Saskatoon police have arrested a 35-year-old woman and a 36-year-old man in relation to a day-time robbery at The Centre Mall in Saskatoon last month.

Both are charged with possession of property over $5,000 used in an offence, according to a police release. The woman was also charged with robbery and the man was also charged with possession of property over $5,000 obtained in an offence.

Police said they responded to a call about an armed robbery at the mall shortly before 2 p.m. CST on June 4.

Arif Ratnani, who owns Jewels in The Centre Mall, previously told CBC that he was sitting behind the counter, eating an orange for lunch, when two masked people strolled into his store with a machete, a hammer and tote bags.

Without a word or acknowledging him, they began smashing display cases and grabbed thousands of dollars of gold and diamond "within a minute," Ratnani said.

"They chose particular showcases, they might have been here before, this is what I sense," Ratnani said at the time.

Saskatoon police say members of the general investigations unit — which deals with break and enter offences, according to its website — continue to investigate.
