Saskatchewan Country Association Awards handed out in Nipawin
Saskatchewan musicians celebrate award winning weekend
Stars shone brightly this weekend as they hit the stage for the 25th annual Saskatchewan Country Music Association Awards.
Several artists took home more than one trophy from Nipawin. Topping the list were Codie Prevost and Wyatt, with three awards each.
"Most of my family was in the audience," Prevost said. "It was just awesome to accept those awards in front of so many friends and family.
Wyatt took home Group of the Year for the seventh year in a row.
The group also took home Album and Video of the Year. They said the SCMA's have grown so much since they started and it's nice to be a part of its evolution.
Top Female Vocalist went to Jess Moskaluke, who also took home Single of the year.
It was also a big weekend for husband and wife team Tera and Stephen Maguire. Tera took home Manager of the Year along side Al Leblanc. Stephen was awarded Country Music Person of the year and the SCMA Humanitarian Award.
Many of the artists agree this weekend was all about the Saskatchewan country music family coming together and celebrating.
Maguire said its future is secure,
"It's just going to climb from now on. Country music is alive and well and I can't wait to see what we do next year. Saskatchewan audiences are in for a treat."
