Saskatoon police have arrested five people and charged them all with kidnapping with intent to hold for ransom on Friday.

Police say they received a report of an ongoing kidnapping on Thursday.

A man went to Saskatoon Police after his son told him that he was being held against his will in a vehicle, according to a press release.

Police say the five people demanded a large sum of money for the release of the man's son.

Officers were able to locate the vehicle in the 900 block of Weldon Avenue and rescued the man, once he and one of the accused were walking toward a residence, according to the release.

Police said they arrested four other people who stayed in the vehicle.

Four men ranging in age from 21 to 38 and one 29-year-old woman have now been charged with kidnapping with intent to hold ransom.
