3 youth face charges after Hanmer school break-in, vandalism

Three young people are facing charges after a school was broken into on Dennie Street in Hanmer on Sunday.

Three young people are facing charges after a school was broken into on Dennie Street in Hanmer on Sunday.

The alarm at the school was set off about 4 p.m. and, when security arrived, it was found the school had been broken into and damaged inside.

Police were called. Police report the intruders entered the school through a smashed window. Once inside, fire extinguishers were sprayed inside the school and a mess left by the offenders, including graffiti.

Through video surveillance, three area youths were identified, who are 12, 13 and 14 years old. All are charged with break and enter and mischief.
