A federal election has been called. Here's who's running - so far - in northwestern Ontario

Parliament has officially been dissolved, and Canadians are headed to the polls to vote for the next federal government.

Parliament has officially been dissolved, and Canadians are headed to the polls to vote for the next federal government.

Not all parties have yet nominated candidates in all of the region's ridings, but here's a list of who's running — as of Sunday — for the four major parties in northwestern Ontario, as listed on the official party pages:

Thunder Bay-Superior North

  • Patty Hajdu, Liberal (incumbent)
  • Bob Herman, Conservative
  • Joy Wakefield, NDP

The Green Party has not listed a candidate for Thunder Bay-Superior North yet.

Thunder Bay-Rainy River

  • Marcus Powlowski, Liberal (incumbent)
  • Brendan Hyatt, Conservative
  • Yuk-Sem Won, NDP

The Green party has not yet listed a candidate for the Thunder Bay-Rainy River riding.

Kenora-Kiiwetinoong

  • Eric Melillo, Conservative (incumbent)
  • Tania Cameron, NDP

The Green and Liberal parties have not listed candidates for Kenora-Kiiwetinoong yet.

The 2025 federal election is scheduled to take place on Monday, April 28.
