Thunder Bay police investigating collision between vehicle and 12-year-old cyclist

The Thunder Bay Police Service is investigating a motor vehicle collision involving a 12-year-old cyclist late Monday afternoon in the city’s north end. Here's what we know so far.

The Thunder Bay Police Service is investigating a motor vehicle collision involving a 12-year-old cyclist late Monday afternoon in the city's north end.

Officers responded to the scene on Huron Avenue, across from the North End Community Centre, around 5:45 p.m.

"The cyclist's injuries can be described as serious but are not considered life-threatening," said media relations co-ordinator Matt Vis in an email to CBC News on Tuesday morning.

Members of the police service's traffic unit are involved in the investigation, which remains ongoing, he said.

CBC News observed a portion of Huron Avenue near the intersection of Royal Street blocked off while police were on the scene Monday evening.

Police have not confirmed whether any charges have been laid.
