Boy, 16, in critical but stable condition after stabbing in Ajax: police

Durham police are looking for witnesses after a 16-year-old boy was stabbed in Ajax on Friday night. The incident happened around 11:55 p.m. near Audley Road and Lythgoe Lane, police said in a news release Saturday.

Durham police are looking for witnesses after a 16-year-old boy was stabbed in Ajax on Friday night. 

The incident happened around 11:55 p.m. near Audley Road and Lythgoe Lane, police said in a news release Saturday.

Officers had received multiple 911 calls about a fight in the area. When police arrived, a large number of people left the scene, the release said.

Officers did not find any injured people at the time.

Shortly afterwards, the boy went to a local hospital with stab wounds. Police said the victim was injured during the fight. 

He was taken to a trauma centre in Toronto where he is in critical but stable condition, the release said. 

Anyone who witnessed the incident and who may have cellphone footage from Lakeside Park on Friday between 11:30 p.m. to midnight is asked to contact police or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers.
