Crime Stoppers asks Drake to help Muzik club shooting investigation
Neither rapper nor OVO label have commented on shooting
Still lacking suspects after the deadly Muzik nightclub shootings, Toronto Crime Stoppers called on Drake to urge his fans to provide information in the case.
Two people, Toronto's Ariela Navarro-Fenoy and Brampton's Duvel Hibbert, were slain in two separate shootings that took place around 3:20 a.m., following the after-party for Drake's OVO Fest. The first shooting took place on the patio of Muzik nightclub, while the second happened nearby as the some 4,000 people who were inside the club fled the scene.
Neither the Toronto rapper nor his OVO label have commented on the shootings in the wake of the incident.
On Thursday, Crime Stoppers tweeted Drake — who is still in the city — to ask him to meet with them.
"We do believe that through his voice and through his influence that we can generate tips," said Chris Scherk, the co-ordinator of Crime Stoppers.
Some Drake fans, meanwhile, have criticized the rapper for his silence about the shootings. Many have sent tweets or Instagram comments to Drake asking him to do something.
CBC News has made multiple attempts to contact Drake, with no response.
In 2013, Drake mourned the victims of the Danzig Street shooting with a rap on a Snoop Lion song called "No Guns Allowed."
"Told you no guns and you didn't listen," he rhymes on that song.

- An earlier version of this article indicated it was Toronto police who asked Drake to help in the shooting investigation. It was in fact Toronto's Crime Stoppers who made the request.Aug 07, 2015 11:06 AM ET
