Section of Highway 401 in Oshawa closed for several hours due to fatal collision

A fatal collision involving a motorcyclist closed down a section of Highway 401 in Oshawa for several hours on Wednesday morning.

A fatal collision involving a motorcyclist closed down a section of Highway 401 in Oshawa for several hours on Wednesday morning. 

The collision happened just before 6 a.m. when the motorcyclist collided with a tractor trailer, the Ontario Provincial Police's highway safety division said in a post to X, formerly Twitter.

The motorcyclist was rushed to hospital but died from his injuries, the OPP said. No other injuries were reported. 

Police said all eastbound lanes of Highway 401 at Harmony Road would be closed for several hours as they investigate. All lanes were expected to reopen by 1 p.m., the OPP said in a post to X.
