A 24-year-old man is dead after a motorcycle collided with a pickup truck on the Gardiner Expressway on Friday evening, Toronto police say.

Officers were called to the scene around 7:40 p.m., Toronto police duty senior officer Todd Jocko said.

Several motorcycles were travelling eastbound in the Gardiner express lanes, he said. One of the motorcycles struck the rear of a pickup truck, driven by a 52-year-old woman, that was also travelling eastbound.

"The motorcyclist was unfortunately separated from their motorcycle and sustained serious injuries," Jocko said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Jocko said the pickup truck remained at the scene. The driver did not sustain any injuries.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have dash cam footage is asked to contact Toronto police.
