9 speed cameras damaged in Vaughan, Ont.: police

Police in York Region are looking for witnesses after nine speed enforcement cameras were damaged in Vaughan. 

The cameras were damaged at three separate locations across the city from Jan. 11 to April 24, York Regional Police said in a news release Wednesday.

The most recent incident comes after a speed enforcement camera on Parkside Drive in Toronto was cut down for the fourth time in late April.

It also follows an announcement that the City of Toronto is doubling the number of speed cameras on its city streets. 

York police say they have charged a suspect in one incident, but are still hoping for witnesses to come forward in the other two.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact them or send information anonymously to Crime Stoppers.
