Man, 64, dead after being struck by vehicle in Scarborough

A 64-year-old man has died after being struck by the driver of a vehicle in Scarborough on Saturday, Toronto police say.

Driver was a 52-year-old woman, police say

A 64-year-old man has died after being hit by a vehicle in Scarborough on Saturday, Toronto police say.

Just after 5:34 p.m., police responded to a call about a pedestrian being struck in the Sheppard Avenue East and Palmdale Drive area.

The 64-year-old man was crossing the street when he was was struck by an black 2022 Audi SUV being driven by a 52-year-old woman, police said in a news release Sunday. The driver of the vehicle remained on scene. 

Police say the man had stopped in the centre turning lane of Sheppard Avenue East and was waiting for a break in eastbound traffic before he was struck. 

Life-saving measures were performed on the pedestrian but he was pronounced dead at the scene, police say. 

Police are asking any drivers who may have dashcam footage of the area or incident to contact investigators at 416-808-1900.
