Police are asking the public for information in the disappearance of a Markham woman reported missing "under suspicious circumstances."

Yuk-Ying (Anita) Mui, 56, has not been seen or heard from since Friday morning, York Regional Police said in a news release Monday.

According to investigators, Mui's family last saw her when she left her home in the area of Baycliffe Road and Warden Avenue around 9:30 a.m. She then spoke to family members again at 11 a.m. that same morning, police said.

Mui's 2024 white Mercedes Benz SUV was then found by police Friday afternoon in the area of Finch Avenue E. and Warden Avenue in Toronto.

Const. Lisa Moskaluk told reporters Monday that police currently have no "suspicious evidence" to suggest what may have happened to her.

"However, she does have regular contact with her family, and the fact that she hasn't checked in with them is enough for them to be concerned, and for the police to be concerned at this point," she said.

"This is out of character for her," she said.

Moskaluk said police don't know where Mui was going Friday morning, saying her schedule as a Realtor was "all over the place." Mui is a Realtor at a brokerage based in Richmond Hill.

York police's homicide unit has taken over the investigation for the time being. They are looking to speak with anyone who may have seen her vehicle or have information about the incident.

Mui is described as Chinese, about five-feet, six-inches tall and 130 pounds with a medium build. She has brown eyes and straight, shoulder-length black hair. She was wearing a blue, gold and white knee-length dress and black shoes when she was last seen.

Anyone with information related to the case is asked to contact York police or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers.
