A pedestrian was killed in Leamington on Wednesday after being hit by a vehicle, the OPP says.

Emergency crews responded to the scene on Erie Street South a little after 2 p.m., the OPP said in a press release. 

"The pedestrian was struck by a motor vehicle and was pronounced deceased at the scene," police said. "The driver of the vehicle was not injured."

Police said Erie Street South between Georgia and Pulford avenues would be closed for "several hours" as officers investigate.

The OPP is urging anyone with information about the incident to contact them at 1-888-310-1122.
