A former agent for a People's Party of Canada Windsor-Tecumseh candidate has been charged for financial fraud.

The accused worked for PPC 44th federal election candidate Victor Green. They have been charged with three counts by the Commissioner of Canadian Elections. These charges include depositing a cheque from Elections Canada of over $18,000 into a personal bank account.

The two other charges levied at the former agent are for submitting an incomplete campaign return and theft of a value more than $5,000 intended for Green's campaign. The latter is alleged to have occurred between October 2021 and January 2022.

A representative from the PPC said that the party will not comment on an ongoing investigation.

"This is new information to us; by law, these investigations are between the accused and the office of the Commissioner," a representative of the PPC told CBC News via email.

"We respect the process and authority granted the Commissioner to enforce the law and are not going to speak to an ongoing investigation."

The results of the 2021 Federal Election put Victor Green in fourth place in Windsor-Tecumseh with 5,927 votes.
