Situation 'all clear' after officials evacuate Sarnia neighbourhood due to gas leak

Officials evacuated part of a neighbourhood in Sarnia, Ont., Thursday while a utility company worked to repair a gas leak, police say.

Fire officials say the situation is now 'all clear.'

Officials evacuated part of a neighbourhood in Sarnia, Ont., Thursday morning while a utility company worked to repair a gas leak, police say.

They also closed Confederation Street between Russell Street South and Savoy Street.

Emergency services responded to reports of a natural gas leak at around 9 a.m., the Sarnia Police Service said in a news release issued Thursday.

Police and Sarnia Fire Services identified a high-pressure gas leak in the vicinity.

Officials evacuated the affected area and restricted both vehicle and pedestrian access.

Enbridge was on site working to resolve the issue, police said.

The fire service declared that the situation was "all clear" in a post on X.com just before noon.
