Windsor police have arrested a 39-year-old woman and charged her with arson following an early morning fire at a downtown restaurant.

At roughly 3 a.m. Tuesday, officers responded to the 700 block of Wyandotte St. E., where firefighters were already working to put out the blaze at the unnamed eatery, Windsor Police Services said in a Wednesday press release.

"No physical injuries were reported, but the fire caused an estimated $75,000 in damage to the building," WPS said.

Officers "quickly located and arrested" a female suspect three blocks away after reviewing surveillance footage, police said.

WPS said anyone with information about the case should contact their arson unit at 519-255-6700, ext. 4330, or Crime Stoppers at 519-258-8477 (TIPS).
