Windsor police say they have charged a man and woman in a Tuesday night attack that sent a person to hospital with serious injuries.

Officers responded to a report of a stabbing in Windsor's east end at roughly 8:30 p.m. that night, the Windsor Police Service said in a press release Thursday.

The assault happened in the 6800 block of Charlie Brooks Court following an argument between the two suspects and a third person, police said.

"After exchanging words, the male suspect brandished a knife and stabbed the individual in the chest," police said. "The female suspect then sprayed the person in the eyes with bear mace."

One person was treated by paramedics and "taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries," per police.

The suspects were gone by the time officers arrived at the scene, but police say they found and arrested a female suspect nearby around three hours later. "The male suspect was taken into custody in the same area the following morning."

The 28-year-old female suspect is charged with assault with a weapon and administering a noxious substance with intent to aggrieve, according to the press release. The 34-year-old male suspect is charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, and failure to comply with a release order.

Police said anyone with information about the attack should call them at 519-255-6700, ext. 4830, or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 519-258-8477 (TIPS) or www.catchcrooks.com.
