Halloween 2016: Newsmakers, throwback music and Hollywood inspire celebrity costumes
Newsmakers, retro music, screen stars inspire celebrity costumes
Some say it's not really Halloween until the trick-or-treaters hit the streets, but that didn't stop celebrities from stepping out in their best, spookiest finery to for parties over the weekend.
A few themes emerged about what inspired some of the best star costumes this year. (Hilary Duff, you'll have to do much better next year).
Ripped from the headlines
From the imminent U.S. presidential election to Olympic-size scandals, newsmakers were just too irresistible to to ignore.
Musical blasts from the past
Many celebrities hit the dial to embrace retro music of the past, getting in touch with their inner musicians from the '60s, '70s, '80s and '90s.
Heroes, kings, ingenues and a horse
How fitting that many movie and TV stars were inspired by onscreen characters both classic and new.
