"There's a medical thing that happened and he needed to deal with it," Chili Peppers bassist Flea, who's real name is Michael Balzary, told the crowd in Irvine, Calif., just outside Los Angeles.

The group was supposed to headline an annual event that drew thousands of fans called Weenie Roast at the Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre, hosted by KROQ.
The L.A. radio station posted a message on Twitter Saturday night, citing "illness" as the reason for the cancellation.
The band on Sunday posted a message on their website, indicating that Kiedis, 53, was suffering from intestinal flu.
"Anthony is expected to make a full recovery soon," the notice posted on redhotchilipeppers.com said.
NO one's more disappointed than us that we couldn't perform tonight. Sending love and a speedy recovery to my brother Anthony.
