Musical chairs: Game of Thrones stars appear in Season 7 teaser trailer
Lena Headey, Kit Harington and Emilia Clarke appear in new video
Game of Thrones fans got the best glimpse yet into the penultimate season of the epic fantasy series with a teaser trailer that went online Thursday.
The 90-second video, titled Long Walk and set to the 1989 James song Sit Down, features the three major (surviving) contenders for the Iron Throne: Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke), Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and current queen Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey).
Close camera shots follow each character approaching a seat of power. Danerys is seen in Dragonstone, the ancestral home of her family and former home of the recently deceased Stannis Baratheon.
Cersei appears upon the Iron Throne in King's Landing, which she captured in explosive fashion at the end of Season 6, eliminating nearly all of her political adversaries in one decisive blow.
Jon appears in Winterfell, which he recaptured with the help of his stepsister Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) last season.
- Game of Thrones season 7 premiere set for July 16
- Winds of Winter bring sweeping changes on Game of Thrones season finale
The trailer ends with a look into the steely gaze of a White Walker. The supernatural creatures and their undead army from The North have been shuffling towards the rest of the Seven Kingdoms at a glacial pace since the show's beginning.
Today's trailer, features the first new footage of the show's performers this year. HBO announced earlier this month that Season 7 will debut July 16.
