In a statement from publisher Nordstedts, Lagercrantz says he "just can't resist" continuing the series after The Girl in the Spider's Web, which has sold 80 million copies worldwide since its August launch and topped fiction bestseller lists in the U.S. and Europe.

Said Lagercrantz: "It's been so much fun to write and such a breathtaking adventure."

The original three books in the Millennium series, starting with The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, were written by Stieg Larsson, who died in 2004.

Nordstedts said part five in the series will come out in 2017 and part six probably in 2019.
