Tracy Morgan returns to stand up comedy after June 2014 crash
Monday night performances a precursor to SNL hosting gig next weekend
Tracy Morgan took another step in his return to the stage this week, performing at two New York comedy clubs.
He performed Monday night at the Comedy Cellar and The Stand in Manhattan, noting after the former that it was his first time performing onstage in 16 months.

Morgan set to return to television and his former home of Saturday Night Live as host of the weekly sketch show on Oct. 17.
He earned a warm welcome from Hollywood last month when he made a surprise appearance as a presenter at the Emmy Awards.
The 46-year-old comedian and actor is gradually returning to work after being involved in a major, multi-vehicle accident in June 2014 on the New Jersey Turnpike. A Wal-Mart truck crashed into the back of a limo van carrying Morgan and some of his friends as they returned from a performance in Delaware.
The crash, which ultimately encompassed six vehicles, killed childhood friend and fellow performer James (Jimmy Mack) McNair, while other passengers were severely injured, including Morgan, who suffered traumatic brain trauma as well as a broken leg, nose and ribs.
Morgan, McNair's family and the other passengers in the limo van (Ardley Fuqua and Jeffrey Millea) reached an undisclosed settlement with Wal-mart earlier this year.
