Hitting NATO's 3.5% defence spending target would require 'ton of planning': analyst
On Monday, Prime Minister Mark Carney said that Canada was committed to spend two per cent of its GDP on defence within the fiscal year, meeting a NATO target. However, the organization's secretary general soon plans to increase that target to 3.5 per cent. David Perry, president of the Canadian Global Affairs Institute, said that new target would require big fiscal decisions and a priority shift from the feds.
