As It Happens

Meet the guy who photobombs stock photos

As a long-time art director, Matt Vescovo has worked with his fair share of unintentionally funny stock photos over the years. He mostly found them annoying until recently, when a light bulb went off. He decided to buy stock photos and insert himself into them in the strangest ways possible.

Stock photos have always been easy targets for ridicule. The people or animals in them are either impossibly beautiful, impossible cute, or impossibly happy ... and usually all three.

Stock photos are meant to capture spontaneous moments of beauty and bliss, but they are so meticulously choreographed that they usually end up looking staged and fake. The worst simply look ridiculous.
