q sports panel on Prince's love of basketball and his Super Bowl performance
q's sports panel today is all about Prince, from him watching the Chicago Bulls as he played guitar solos to his 2007 halftime performance at the Super Bowl.
Shad checks in with Toronto Star sports reporter Morgan Campbell, CBC host and reporter Sonali Karnick and sports editor at The Nation and host of the Edge of Sports podcast Dave Zirin.
Dave, who went to Macalester College in Minnesota, remembers Prince being the "soul" of the state.
"I'm meeting people who are only going to this college so they can meet Prince," he says.
Sonali shares a story that could only happen if Prince was involved.
"Prince said, 'I'll give you $70,000 a month for your house,' and Carlos Boozer said, 'Okay.'"
And Morgan defends Prince's basketball prowess and why he may have had a penchant for turnovers.
"When you're Prince, you're just that creative and the teammates can't get on that level," he tells Shad, "often times, you're thinking two or three steps ahead."
