The Good Lie: Philippe Falardeau's English-language debut
Quebec director Philippe Falardeau reflects on his English-language debut starring Reese Witherspoon.
Quebec director Philippe Falardeau, whose previous film Monsieur Lahzar was nominated for an Oscar, makes his English language debut with The Good Lie starring Reese Witherspoon. The film is based on the true story of the so-called "Lost Boys" of Sudan.
Falardeau joins Jian to discuss how his background as a photographer and documentarian helped spur the film, why he felt it was important to cast real Sudanese refugees and how the first-time actors responded to scenes that echoed their own stories.
