From the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Jian seeks insight on the most-talked-about competitions, athletes, and stories with a special Sochi edition edition of the Q sports panel: CBC's Scott Russell and Bruce Arthur of the National Post.

Arthur says the story for him, thus far, has been Canada's athletes and character they've demonstrated off the playing field as well as on it.

Russell tells Jian his headline summing up the first half of the Olympics would focus on a "storybook games for Canada."

Although Canada might not exceed the Vancouver 2010 performance as far as overall medal count, Russell says, "it's storybook because of the quality of medals that have been won here."

This week, Russell and Arthur find themselves at odds over whether the Winter Olympics is the right stage for talk of human rights abuses and political controversy.

Did world leaders who stayed home miss an opportunity for dialogue? Or is it unrealistic to expect a sports-focused event to affect international policy?
