Olympic organizers are taking less-than-ideal approaches to mitigating most problems, says Zirin. Still, athletes and other visitors will likely be shielded from the most severe issues.
"All of the problems you've described are being sectioned off and hyper-centralized in the poorest parts of Rio," he tells Shad.
