Ordinary Russians share thoughts on Sochi 2014
Jian leaves the "ring of steel" surrounding the Winter Olympics to interview ordinary Russians about the impact of the games.
Jian leaves the "ring of steel" surrounding the Winter Olympics to visit a residential neighbourhood in the northern part of Sochi -- an area well away from the fancy shops and the tourist attractions.
He speaks to many ordinary Russians about how the Olympic Games have affected their lives, and is even invited into some of their homes. Many say the event -- and all the big changes that came with it -- has been of great benefit to local residents.
Others, like a pensioner named Nina, are deeply unhappy and say they no longer recognize their city.
"One thing that is clear: just like everywhere else in the world, there is no unanimity among the Russian people in their feelings about these Sochi games," says Jian.
