Fresh off winning silver and bronze medals at the Winter Olympics in Sochi, long-track speed skater Denny Morrison speaks with Jian about receiving a wonderful gift from teammate Gilmore Junio, having a gay bar as a sponsor, and which Summer Olympic sport he's thinking of training for.
Morrison tells Jian he thought he was being pranked when he first received a text message in Sochi offering him a spot to compete in the men's 1,000-metre speed skating race.
The message was from Junio, who had decided to withdraw so that Morrison could have the opportunity instead.
"That experience of having a teammate do something like that for me at the Olympics, that's unprecedented to begin with, but that was a special moment," Morrison says.
"I couldn't stop saying thank you."
Morrison also explains why he enjoys experiencing "nauseating pain" on the ice and why he's proud to have a gay bar sponsoring him in Sochi.
