Canadian '70s-style transformation: Plenty of plaid, kitsch, and back-to-nature aesthetic

The Carlson family has made it to their fourth decade of the experiment: the '70s. The family gets to play some traditional Canadian winter sports and try out a snowmobile ride together.

The Carlsons have been living their way through sixty years of Canadian winter and have slid into the funky 1970s. Melanie's handy-woman skills are put to the test when she has to plastic wrap her windows to keep the chill out, while Dave's on kitchen duty for the very first time.

As the roles shift at home, Melanie enjoys fun outside the house by throwing rocks '70s style at the local curling and driving an authentic '70s snowmobile. Outdoor maintenance still falls on Dave's shoulder, as he takes on a DIY project to ease the burden of snow removal.

Lauren, Alex and Chelsey are just 'stayin' alive' with winter manicures and seventies disco moves.
