7 people from Cambridge and Guelph arrested as part of 'multi-jurisdictional' drug investigation
Investigation involved police services from Guelph, Waterloo region and Brantford

Four men and three women from Guelph and Cambridge were arrested following a "'multi-jurisdictional" drug investigation.
In a news release Wednesday, the Guelph Police Service said they seized approximately $28,000 worth of fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine and oxycodone as well as two firearms and "other weapons including prohibited knives, brass knuckles, bear spray and a conducted energy weapon."
Police also recovered $5,800 in cash and about $20,000 worth of suspected stolen property such as bicycles, appliances and tools.
The suspects are now facing dozens of charges including possession for the purpose of trafficking, possessing prohibited weapons and possessing stolen property.
Investigations began in the spring
Police in Guelph started the investigation in the spring with one suspect — a man from Cambridge who was believed to be trafficking controlled substances in the Guelph and Cambridge areas.
"Through the investigation, a number of other individuals became persons of interest and number of addresses and vehicles," Scott Tracey, the media relations co-ordinator for the Guelph Police Service, told CBC News.
"Certainly there was some organization between them [but] whether it is bigger than those seven individuals, that we're not sure at this point."
The investigation turned "multi-jurisdictional," with support from the tactical units of the Waterloo Regional Police Service and Brantford Police Service. Police obtained search warrants following the investigation, which were for three addresses in Guelph, two in Cambridge, as well as three vehicles. The search warrants were executed in early July.
Guelph police Chief Gord Cobey said he hopes the investigation sends a message to potential criminals.
"Individuals who seek to profit from illegal activities and jeopardize the safety of our residents should expect that the Guelph Police Service and our policing partners will pursue and hold them accountable for their actions," Cobey said in a media release.
All suspects were held for bail hearings.
